Report: Coveted transfer forward visiting Arkansas

Arkansas men’s basketball and head coach John Calipari are set to host former Tennessee big man Jonas Aidoo for a visit this weekend, according to a report by Joe Tipton at On3.com.

Aidoo is ranked as the No. 5 overall player out of more than 1,500 entries into the transfer portal at On3.

The 6-11, 240-pound big man is coming off a stellar 2023-24 campaign with the Volunteers where he averaged career highs in scoring (11.4), field goal percentage (51.5%), rebounds (7.3), blocks (1.8) and assists (1.0). He started all 36 games for the Volunteers, who made a run to the Elite Eight in March.

Aidoo, who recorded 8 double-doubles last season, finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds in the Vols’ win in Bud Walton Arena in February. He also had 24 points and 10 rebounds against Ole Miss in January.

The Razorbacks appear to be in a battle with Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears to land Aidoo’s services. He visited Waco last weekend.

Aidoo becomes the fourth known visitor for the Razorbacks this week. McDonald’s All-American Karter Knox visited and announced his commitment on Monday.

Two more freshmen from Calipari’s No.2-ranked signing class at Kentucky — 6-2 combo guard Boogie Fland and 6-6 wing Billy Richmond — are expected to visit Arkansas beginning Wednesday.
