Arkansas football opened spring practices Thursday morning inside Walker Pavilion. Day 1 began around 8:30 a.m.
Here are a bunch of notes and observations from the roughly two-hour practice:
• Tight end Luke Hasz made a number of catches in team and 7-on-7 periods for big gains. He was full speed and showed no signs of the collarbone injury that prematurely ended his freshman season.
• Quarterback Taylen Green, the Boise State transfer, looks the part and had a solid day running the first-team offense and throwing the ball in various periods. He seems to be the clear No. 1 at the position. His speed is different, he has a live arm and exudes confidence.
• It was interesting observing first-year wide receivers coach Ronnie Fouch. He has a laid-back demeanor and players are attentive to his instruction. He was efficient in the way he provided feedback to his position group.
• Highlights from the 7-on-7 period: Green had a big completion to Hasz over the middle; Green connected with Tyrone Broden for a touchdown on a go route; Green also completed a slant to Andrew Armstrong; Jaheim Singletary broke up a Jacolby Criswell pass for Isaac TeSlaa; Criswell completed a deep ball to Walker Catsavis with Jaylon Braxton in coverage.
Malachi Singleton later completed a pass up the seam to Isaiah Sategna; Davion Dozier made a nice sideline grab on a ball from Singleton; and KJ Jackson completed a pass to Armstrong and a deep ball to Broden.
Green was 9 of 11 in the period, Criswell was 3 of 7, Singleton was 3 of 5, and KJ Jackson 4 of 6.
• Former Arkansas tight end Chris Gragg was at practice.
