The 2023-24 season is officially over for Arkansas men’s basketball, which means portal season is right around the corner.
After a disappointing 16-17 finish, the Razorback coaching staff has already turned the page to rebuilding a winning roster through the transfer portal.
Arkansas currently has six scholarships to work with in the portal — although several more are likely to come available soon.
Curtis Wilkerson and Scottie Bordelon have been ahead of the portal madness for weeks with an evolving list of over 40 names to get familiar with.
With the transfer portal officially open for business, here is a running tally of the prospects Arkansas has been in contact with as well as other names to keep an eye on (this list will be updated regularly):
Arkansas’ transfer commitments (1)
Josh Cohen (UMass) | 6-10, 220, F
• Stats: 15.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.7 apg, 54.4% FG | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Colin Castleton’s little brother
• Notes: Played 3 seasons at St. Francis (PA) before spending 2023-24 at UMass. Had 11 20-plus point games last season and 5 double-doubles. One of the nation’s best at drawing fouls (6.7 per 40 minutes in ’23-24) and getting to the free throw line (214 FTAs). Finished 70% of shots at the rim. UPDATE: Cohen committed to the Razorbacks on 3/29.
• Player insight: “Josh Cohen was a joy to cover. He’s one of the most genuine and thoughtful interviewees I’ve talked to. Cohen is a really, really skilled back-to-the-basket big. He can be a lethal low-post scorer and the centerpiece of an offense because he’s incredibly underrated as a passer. He’s among the best at getting to the foul line, too. But to me, his most impressive qualities were his ability to use his large frame to skillfully shield off the defender and create space for a shot, and his consistent improvement on the defensive end. Frank Martin criticized his pick-and-roll defense constantly, but equally praised it as it improved considerably toward the final third of the season.” – Pedro Gray Soares, assistant sports editor at Massachusetts Daily Collegian

First-team JUCO All-American at Moberly Area CC and led junior college in blocks. UPDATE: Arkansas, LSU, Wake Forest and UAB are the finalists for Spillers, who is setting up a visit to Fayetteville, according to Joe Tipton.
- Player insight: “Very high energy with a great motor and plays hard for 40 minutes. Plays bigger than his size and above the rim. Excellent defender and was second on the team in blocks. Plays well as the roll man in pick-and-roll and plays well through contact. Rebounds at a high level. Scored most of his points in the paint and on free throws. [He] will try to score over multiple defenders when he needs to pass out. Not much of a perimeter threat. Is limited to 15 feet and in.” – Ethan Smith, sports editor at The Appalachian

Keyshawn Hall (George Mason) | 6-7, 230, G/F
• Stats: 16.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 35.7% 3FG | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 2
• Build: Justin Smith
• Notes: Second-team All-A10 honors as a sophomore with George Mason. Ten games of more than 20 points scored, including a career-high 36 against Bridgewater on 12/19. UPDATE: Arkansas will host Hall for a Zoom visit on 3/29.
• Player insight: “He has exceptional ball-handling skills for a guy his size, and in the A-10 there were times when he could simply overwhelm power forwards with his athleticism. On some nights that meant popping threes over bigger but slower guys. On others it meant attacking the rim and out-muscling guys in small-ball lineups he had 15-25 pounds on. Not sure he would be as consistently effective against a power-conference schedule where those advantages are harder to come by, but that’s the sort of question anybody coming in from a one- or two-bid league is going to face, and some of those guys do quite well. At 6-7 and 230 pounds, in the right system and surrounded by good options, I think he’ll adjust fine and be a productive player at a higher level.” – Patrick Stevens, college sports reporter for The Washington Post
Darlinstone Dubar (Hofstra) | 6-8, 211, F
- Stats: 17.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.4 apg, 39.9% 3FG | Highlights | Shot chart
- Years Remaining: 1
- Build: Keaton Miles
- Notes: Shot 40% on 115 made threes past two seasons. Had 11 points, 5 boards, 5 steals in win over Arkansas in NLR in ’21-22. Eight double-doubles this season. 24 and 8 on Duke, 23 and 5 on St. John’s. Two 30-point games. UPDATE: Source tells Natty State Sports Razorback coaches were out to see Dubar over the weekend and an official visit date to Fayetteville is being finalized. He is a top priority for Arkansas.
- Player insight: “Despite being from Charlotte, he spent [last] summer on campus here and lost about 20 pounds over the course of the offseason while putting up a couple hundred shots a day. It ended up leading to him becoming one of the most complete players in the conference with a top 100 true shooting percentage in the country. At 6-8, 210 pounds with a smooth outside game, he’s for sure got the most NBA-ready archetype we’ve seen at Hofstra in quite some time. And I think he has a bright future at the high-major level.” – Dylan Brett, reporter at The Hofstra Chronicle & radio play-by-play voice of Hofstra men’s basketball
Cade Tyson (Belmont) | 6-7, 205, G

Had three 20-plus point games in conference action and two double-doubles. UPDATE: Arkansas contact confirmed on 3/28.

Tony Perkins (Iowa) | 6-4, 205, G
• Stats: 14.0 ppg, 4.6 apg, 4.4 rpg | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Jaylen Barford
• Notes: Scored 1,175 points and started 81 games in his career at Iowa. Led the Hawkeyes in assists (158) and steals (54) this season. Had five consecutive games with 20 or more points in Big Ten play. UPDATE: Arkansas was among the programs to contact Perkins within an hour of entering the portal.
• Player insight: “Physical, hard-nosed guard. Great getting downhill and finishing at the rim. Not the quickest guard, but uses his strength to his advantage. Explosive athlete. Can be a really good distributor if he’s surrounded by shooters. Otherwise, that part of his game is more neutralized. Biggest flaw in his game is lack of three-point shooting. Defenders can go under screens as a result. Effective mid-range game, but can sometimes be to his disadvantage if he’s not hitting since he relies on it. Can wreak havoc defensively with steals, but takes a fair amount of risks on that end. Played with a lot of future pros in his career at Iowa and been on winning teams.” – Tyler Tachman, Hawkeyes beat reporter for The Des Moines Register
Deyton Albury (Queens) | 6-2, 190, G
• Stats: 17.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.7 apg, 36.4% 3FG | Highlights | Shot chart

• Notes: Wright shot 40% from deep against D-I competition and 39.5% beyond the arc in MVC play. Played three seasons at Cal St. Northridge, where he had a career-high 42 points against UC Davis. Finished with nine 20-plus point games last season. UPDATE: Arkansas contacted Wright on 3/26.
William Kyle (South Dakota State) | 6-9, 230, F
- Stats: 13.1 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 63.2% FGM | Highlights | Shot chart
- Years Remaining: 2
- Build: Willy Kouassi
- Notes: SDSU’s second-leading scorer with 86% of his field goal attempts coming around the basket. Second in the country with 88 total dunks. The Summit League Defensive Player of the Year recorded a career-high of 26 points on Jan. 13 against Denver and ended the season by giving Iowa State 14 points and 7 rebounds in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. UPDATE: Arkansas contacted Kyle on 3/26.
- Player insight: “He is freakishly athletic and in the Summit League a lot of the time post players didn’t know how to handle his athleticism on both sides of the floor. I think he can fare well at the high-major level. His athleticism should translate, and if he continues to improve on his post moves and rim-running I think he will have success. The one thing that worries me is that he can’t shoot outside of about 10 feet. He has yet to develop a jump shot, which you can tell when he’s at the free throw line. He also needs to continue to get stronger, and he did that between his freshman and sophomore seasons.” – Andrew Holtan, sports editor for The Brookings Register
Marques Warrick (Northern Kentucky) | 6-2, 185, G
• Stats: 19.9 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, 42.5% FG | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Mardracus Wade
• Notes: A recent first-team selection in the Horizon League. Scored 20-plus points in 19 games last season, including 39 vs. Wright State on March 2. He is NKU’s all-time leading scorer with more than 2,200 points. Warrick shot 86.1% at the free throw line on 173 attempts. UPDATE: Arkansas contact confirmed on 3/26.
• Player insight: “High-level scorer at all three levels. Excellent spot shooter. Patient when getting to the rim [and] doesn’t force the issue. He has gotten a lot smarter and more confident over the last four years. When he broke NKU’s career scoring record, [head coach] Darrin Horn said his greatest attribute is that he’s never overly emotional. [He] never complains to the refs or his coaches and is never over the top with his celebrations. He just puts his head down and plays the game. Can be turnover prone. Can create his own shot, but could improve at stop-and-pop.” – Brendan Connelly, The Cincinnati Enquirer
Bryce Pope (UC San Diego) | 6-3, 185, G
• Stats: 18.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 74 made 3s | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Anthlon Bell
• Notes: Pope has racked up more than 1,600 career points. First-team All-Big West selection in ’23-24. Scored 15 points in back-to-back outings against Washington and San Diego State and 32 against Cal Irvine. Reached double-figures in all but two games. UPDATE: Arkansas contacted Pope on 3/26.
Colby Rogers (Wichita State) | 6-4, 190, G
• Stats: 16.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.9 apg, 40.9% on 99 3s | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Kylen Milton
• Notes: From the same hometown as former Razorback JD Notae. Broke the Wichita State record for made threes in a single season in ’23-24. Scored more than 20 points in 10 games on the year. Spent his first two seasons at Cal Poly and one year at Siena before transferring to Wichita State. 1,441 points in career. UPDATE: Arkansas contact confirmed 3/26.
• Player insight: “Colby offers the skills of a three-point sniper who can add instant offense to whatever situation he walks into next season. His next stop will likely try to feed him more catch-and-shoot looks, but Colby showed this past season that he is plenty capable of hurting defenses when he goes off the dribble (48.2% effective field goal percentage on off-the-dribble jumpers). He hasn’t played for a winning team in four years of college, which means he hasn’t played in many high-stakes games, but his three-point shooting has proven to translate, and he would be a good addition to any team with NCAA [Tournament] aspirations for next season.” – Taylor Eldridge, Shockers beat writer for The Wichita Eagle
Justice Ajogbor (Harvard) | 6-10, 255, F
• Stats: 8.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.9 bpg | Offense film | Defense film | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: More athletic Makhel Mitchell
• Notes: Ajogbor finished 2023-24 with the No. 2 block rate in the country (13.6%) and inside the top 150 in offensive rebound percentage (11.1%). Missed seven games last season following hand surgery. Blocked at least 3 shots in 13 games, including each of the last 7. Enjoys hiking. UPDATE: Arkansas contacted Ajogbor on 3/25.
• Player insight: “Ajogbor’s athleticism on the court makes him a highly entertaining player to watch. He typically makes several key blocks each game, ensuring his presence around the rim is felt. Even when he isn’t directly involved in stopping a play, his dominance within the paint is a deterrent for opposing attackers looking to drive to the glass. Offensively, Ajogbor delivers powerful dunks and rebounding prowess. He is often fouled and when unable to finish plays can struggle to convert from the free throw line.” – Alexander K. Bell, staff writer for The Harvard Crimson
Dusan Neskovic (Dartmouth) | 6-8, 205, F
• Stats: 16.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.1 apg, 36.3% 3FG | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 1
• Build: Darious Hall
• Notes: Opened last season with 23 points at Duke on 11 of 19 from the field. Also added 24 vs. Saint Louis and 23 against Cornell and Penn. He shot 42.7% from deep in Ivy League play and 36.7% vs. D-I teams on 128 attempts. UPDATE: Arkansas contacted Neskovic on 3/23.
JP Pegues (Furman) | 6-1, 185, G
- Stats: 18.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.2 spg | Highlights | Shot chart
- Years Remaining: 1
- Build: True PG in Notae Body
- Notes: Find someone who gushes over you the way Scottie Bordelon does Pegues. He had 21 points and 6 assists at Arkansas, and hit the game-winning three to beat Virginia in the NCAA Tournament last spring. UPDATE: Pegues entered the portal on 3/22 and was contacted by Arkansas on 3/23.

Tarris Reed Jr (Michigan) | 6-10, 265, F
• Stats: 9.0 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.4 bpg | Highlights | Shot chart
• Years Remaining: 2
• Build: Dylan Cardwell
• Notes: St. Louis native who emerged as a full-time starter in the Big Ten at Michigan in 2023-24. Teammates with Jordan Walsh at Link Academy senior year of high school. UPDATE: Reed was contacted by Arkansas on 3/22.

UPDATE: Source confirms with Natty State Sports that Arkansas is among the teams prioritizing Dia early in his portal recruitment.

But [Davion] Sykes was more of a consistent big. He will get a lot better wherever he goes.” – Colton McWilliams, sports editor at San Marcos Daily Record
Davion Sykes (Texas State) | 6-6, 200, F

Texas State started conference play 1-8 but then finished the [regular] season winning seven out of the last 10 games, with Sykes being a major factor. He came close to averaging a double-double in points and rebounds during the stretch. I honestly think the Bobcats’ record gets better if Sykes was healthy for the entire season.” – Colton McWilliams, sports editor at San Marcos Daily Record

- Player insight: “Milton was the second-leading scorer on a guard-led team. What made Milton different was he was more likely to drive to the basket while the others shot three-pointers. He still attempted his fair share of threes. Because he was around the basket more than the others, he was the team’s second-leading rebounder and had five double-doubles. He was honored late this season for joining the 1,000-point club. He started every game of conference play this year.” – Tanner Spearman, sports reporter at The Pine Bluff Commercial
