Arkansas sophomore guard Keyon Menifield did not make the trip to Nashville for the SEC Tournament to work on academics, per a team spokesperson.
The 6-1, 150-pound point guard out of Flint (Mich.) injured his groin Feb. 17 at Mississippi State and did not play in the final six games of the regular season.
In 14 games in 2023-24, Menifield has averaged 7.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14 games for the Razorbacks.
Menifield began the 2023-24 season as a non-scholarship redshirt and did not play in the Razorbacks’ first 10 games. He was then granted a waiver by the NCAA for immediate eligibility on Dec. 15, one day before Arkansas’ meeting with Lipscomb in North Little Rock.
He made his greatest impact in his third game, when he finished with 32 points and 5 assists in the Razorbacks’ 106-90 win over UNC-Wilmington on Dec. 30. He also had 16 points at Missouri and 15 against Georgia.
Arkansas opens up SEC Tournament play at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with a 12/13 matchup against Vanderbilt tonight at 6 p.m. (CT).
