Arkansas men’s basketball sophomore guard Joseph Pinion will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced via social media on Friday.
Pinion becomes the first player with remaining eligibility from this season’s roster to announce his departure from the program.
The Morrilton native played in 45 games in two seasons with the Razorbacks, including his lone career start against Lipscomb in North Little Rock in December.
He shot 42.9% from the field, 34.6% from beyond the arc and 92% from the charity stripe during his tenure in Fayetteville.
Pinion averaged 2.4 points in 103 total minutes of playing time for the Hogs in the 2023-24 season.
He scored a season-high 12 points in Arkansas’ loss at Florida on Jan. 13. Pinion also reached double-figures with 10 points in a loss at Ole Miss on Jan. 24. He played 22 minutes in each of those contests.
Pinion was a 4-star prospect in Arkansas’ 2022 recruiting class that ranked among the top 10 in the country.
He was a two-time All-State honoree at Morrilton High School and averaged 24.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game his senior season.
