As conference tournament play draws to a close around the country, Selection Monday looms closer and closer for Arkansas baseball.
D1Baseball released its most recent bracket projection Friday morning. In it, the Razorbacks are the No. 5 overall seed behind Kentucky (1), Tennessee (2), North Carolina (3) and Texas A&M (4).
The most recent projection has the Fayetteville Regional playing host to Louisiana Tech, Kansas State and Oral Roberts. Baseball America, in its projection, has Arkansas as the No. 5 national seed in a regional with Louisiana Tech, Kansas State and Southeast Missouri.
In the D1Baseball projection, the Fayetteville Regional winner would meet the winner of the UC Santa Barbara regional. Baseball America has the Fayetteville regional champion facing the winner of an Oklahoma State regional.
Razorback fans should hope one of the projections becomes reality, as it would be a relatively light field to host. Other teams that could head to Fayetteville next weekend are Texas, Nebraska or a team like Dallas Baptist.
Regardless of who is in Arkansas’ regional, they will need to avoid the collapse they suffered a season ago, when two losses to TCU ended the Razorbacks’ season in Fayetteville.
Be on the lookout next week for an in-depth look at the teams in the Fayetteville Regional, and what to expect from Arkansas as the road to Omaha shortens.
The Razorbacks will enter the NCAA Tournament with a record of 43-14. They are 33-3 at home this season.
The 2024 NCAA Baseball Selection Show will air Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. on ESPN2. The 16 national seeds and complete tournament field will be announced.
