Arkansas offensive lineman Beaux Limmer was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 217 overall pick in sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Limmer was a mainstay on Arkansas’ offensive line the last three seasons. He started 36 games in that span, including 23 at right guard and 12 at center.
NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein projected Limmer, who put up 39 bench press reps and ran a 5.22-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, as a fifth-round selection.
Zierlein gave Limmer a 5.99 prospect grade, considering him to be an average backup or special teams player.
“Limmer brings center/guard flexibility and a wealth of starting experience in the challenging SEC,” Zierlein wrote in Limmer’s draft profile. “He has decent upper-body strength and good lower-body flexibility to provide leverage, but he could use additional mass on his frame. His clear eyes and accurate block entries give him early leads in the initial phase as a run blocker, and he maintains active feet to stay connected to his blocks over the first and second level.
“His tendency to lean and sit heavily on his feet has created problems mirroring rushers at both guard and center, and that is likely to continue for him as a pro. Limmer’s run blocking should create an NFL opportunity at center, but the pass protection must improve.”
Limmer is the second offensive lineman drafted in Sam Pittman’s tenure as Arkansas’ head coach. Ricky Stromberg was also a third-round selection by the Washington Commanders last year.
Kicker Cam Little was the first Razorback off the board Saturday. He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round.
At least five Razorbacks — offensive lineman Brady Latham (Jets), defensive back Dwight McGlothern (Vikings), defensive lineman John Morgan (Patriots), defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat (Saints), linebacker Antonio Grier (Buccaneers) — have signed free agent deals since the draft.
The Buffalo Bills also reportedly invited defensive back Alfahiym Walcott to their rookie mini camp.
