The Arkansas Razorbacks have landed the commitment of BYU transfer Kuhio Aloy, the younger brother of Razorback shortstop Wehiwa Aloy.
During his lone season with the Cougars, Aloy earned a spot on the Big 12’s All-Freshman Team after hitting .269 with 8 home runs and a team-leading 38 RBI while starting 50 of the 52 games he played. Aloy spent the majority of his time starting in the designated hitter spot, but he made appearances at third base, posting a .946 fielding percentage.
Aloy only worked 20 walks, leading to a .329 on-base percentage, but he showed off plenty of pop during his freshman season with 9 doubles and 1 triple to go with his 8 home runs, finishing with a .447 slugging percentage.
Kuhio Aloy (pronounced Koo-He-Oh) who is listed at 6-1 in his BYU bio, was particularly strong against left-handed pitching in 2024, when he hit .326 with a .558 slugging percentage in 46 at-bats. Like his older brother, there is certainly some swing-and-miss to his game, but he did plenty of damage as a freshman while hitting in the middle of the Cougar lineup.
Wehiwa Aloy just wrapped up a strong sophomore season with the Hogs, hitting .270 while leading the team in home runs (14) and RBI (58) and proving to be a consistent defender at shortstop. He’ll be one of the top prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft entering next season as a junior while his brother joins the team for his sophomore season.
The Razorbacks have plenty of work left to do when it comes to rounding out the roster, with the bulk of the starting lineup and the entire starting pitching rotation not expected to return. We’ll continue to monitor the offseason happenings at Natty State Sports, as well as on The Baumbastic Podcast!
I hope someone hooks him and the other Hogs up with Dominic Ficociello who can without a doubt improve every aspect of our offensive production
